Privacy Policy

Your privacy is critically important to us. This document outlines how we collect, use, and protect your data when using Automotive Dataset APIs and platforms.

Last Updated: January 1, 2026

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide better services to all our users. The personal information that you are asked to provide, and the reasons why you are asked to provide it, will be made clear to you at the point we ask you to provide your personal information.

  • Account Information: When you register for an API key or an account, we may ask for your contact information, including items such as name, company name, address, email address, and telephone number.
  • Payment Information: For premium subscriptions, we collect necessary billing details. We utilize secure third-party payment processors (e.g., Stripe) and do not store your raw credit card numbers on our servers.
  • Usage Data & Telemetry: We automatically log data regarding how our APIs are accessed and used. This may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, API endpoint requests, timestamp of requests, and error rates.
  • Cookies & Tracking Technologies: We use cookies, beacons, tags, and scripts to collect and track information and to improve and analyze our Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our API platform and enterprise services.
  • Improve, personalize, and expand our datasets and API endpoints based on usage patterns.
  • Understand and analyze how you use our API to optimize server load and latency.
  • Develop new products, services, features, and functionality.
  • Communicate with you for customer service, to provide updates, API versioning notices, and security alerts.
  • Process your transactions and manage billing for premium API subscriptions.
  • Find and prevent fraud, unauthorized API scraping, and system abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations and resolve any disputes that we may have.

3. Log Files & Infrastructure Tracking

Automotive Dataset follows a standard procedure of using log files on our application servers. These files log visitors when they access our API endpoints. The information collected by log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, API keys utilized, HTTP headers, date and time stamp, and the specific query parameters passed to our databases. This data is not linked to any information that is personally identifiable beyond the registered developer account. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the API, and gathering demographic information to ensure optimal system performance and security.

4. Data Retention

We will retain your Personal Information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies. Usage data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our Service, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.

5. GDPR and CCPA Data Protection Rights

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Depending on your location (such as the EEA, UK, or California), you may have the following rights:

  • The right to access: You have the right to request copies of your personal data.
  • The right to rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate.
  • The right to erasure: You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to restrict processing: You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to object to processing: You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to data portability: You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us.

6. Data Security

We prioritize the security of your data. We implement enterprise-grade security measures including TLS 1.3 encryption for all API transit, AES-256 encryption for data at rest, and strict Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC) internally. Regular security audits and vulnerability scanning are conducted. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure.

7. Children's Information

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity. Automotive Dataset does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.

8. Third-Party Privacy Policies

Automotive Dataset's Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites that consume our API. Thus, we are advising you to consult the respective Privacy Policies of these third-party applications for more detailed information. It may include their practices and instructions about how to opt-out of certain options.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
